Second Year Dorm Room

At this point of my life, I was going through a phase where I loved all things beach-related and was absorbed in the chill surfer lifestyle. I spent the whole summer finding all the perfect components that would come together into this haven. I wanted to feel like I transported to the beach every time I walked into my room. I wanted to replicate that feeling I got when I sat on white sand and watched the sunset over the blue waves as the wind rustled through the strands of my hair.

I ordered my beach sunset tapestry from society6  and got my hanging round bulb lights from Target. The throw pillows were from Marshall’s and Ikea. I opted for navy, golden yellow, and coral for my blankets and pillows — all colors present in the tapestry.

I printed out various pictures of myself and others at the beach and some summery snapshots that I had taken myself. I had used square prints so that it would look more tasteful. The colors were bold – meshing very well with the concept of my room.

My favorite feeling ever is putting together the perfect room, given a theme and a concept. It’s so fun to find all the complementary components! Looking back at your work after a day of arranging everything together is so satisfying. A feeling that just can’t be beaten.
